Peter Cadaver wakes up his sister, Patty who is still in bed. He wants to know where his dad is. Patty says there is no school today for Parent Creature Conferences. Peter says, “Don’t you mean, parent teacher conferences?” In school Peter’s father, the mad scientist, is talking to Peter’s teacher a green gilled creature from the lagoon. Peter’s father says, “So, I understand you are making my kids swim a lot.”

Woodland Hills by Joshua Smeaton

A skunk is handing a net to a bear and telling the bear, “You lift the rock, when they scurry away, I’ll catch them with a net.” The bear lifts the rock over the water. The skunk drops the net into the water. Woop! SPLASH! A crawdad zips out of the net. The skunk is all wet and says, “It slipped out the holes in the net.” The bear says, “ Your brain slipped out the holes in your head.”

An orange cat in a pirate costume and a gray tabby cat in an astronaut suit and helmet are laying on the grass. The astronaut cat is eating a vanilla ice cream in a cone. The pirate cat says they see a cloud that looks like a dinosaur. The tabby says she sees a fluffy cat. The orange cat says they think it’s the ice cream. Sploot! The ice cream lands on the astronaut helmet.

Bug Zapper by Tom Eaton

A giant stick bug with a mask lays on the ground while The Bug Zapper, a super hero in a yellow suit and mask runs past. The giant stick bug says, “Ha! I’ve fooled Bug Zapper yet again by transforming into a stick. A farmer comes and lifts the stick bug and forces it into a hole in the ground. Plunk. “I’d better play it cool until I figure out what’s going on here,” thinks the stick bug. Caption says, “Shortly.” The stick is now a scarecrow. A sign is next to it that says, “punkin patch.” “Just play it cool,” thinks the stick.

Small Word Rat & Big Word Rat by Kevin McCloskey

A blue bird opens a mailbox full of letters and tells Short Word Rat that they have fan mail. Short Word Rat reads all the letters from fans. The rat says this is so sweet. They ask if Big Word Rat got any mail. The bird says, “Um…current resident?” The Big Word Rat says, “I’ll take it!”

Little Green Monsters by Tony Alioto

A green, one-eyed monster says “Check out my new tie.” They are wearing a suit and an orange floral tie. Another one-eyed monster with yellow hair says, “Check out my pie.” They pause and look at each others pie and tie. The yellow-haired monster wears the tie on it’s head and the other monster eats a slice of pie and says, “I’m so glad we are friends.”

A pig lies on it’s back on a road surrounded by tall trees. A woodpecker is pecking away at the trees. Pek! Pek! Pek! The pig has spirals over their head. As the woodpecker gets closer the spirals also have stars and lightning bolts. Finally the pig passes out again on the road.
