Hama & Pici by Alexis E. Fajardo

A pig lays under the tree with their mouth open catching honey dripping from a branch above. Drip, drip drip! The honey starts to pour. Droop. Sloop. The entire bee hive falls. It lands on the head of the pig. SPLAT! The pig flies into the air. Their head is inside the hive and streams of buzzing bees fly out from both sides.

Have you ever seen a beehive?

Joonbug’s World by Imani Lateef

A robot called Joonbug is hanging from the branch of a christmas tree. A kid wearing pink headphones and headset thanks Joonbug for helping decorate the tree. Joonbug crosses their hands and says, “Dangit Ariel, I AM the christmas decoration.”

Mark & Zark by Dan Moynihan

Mark and Zark the martian are walking up the stairs in Mark’s home carrying boxes of cereal. Mark tells Zark that there is a major problem with the Mars dirt. Zark opens the door to Mark’s room and is surprised to find A giant pink and green flowering vine coming out of the box of dirt on the floor. Zark says, “Whoa that’s a major crop of zoobabella.”

Belanie the witch sees her friend Peter Cadaver in the hallway at school. She gives him a wrapped present. Peter is upset he didn’t get her anything. Belanie tells Peter it’s the thought that counts. Peter closes his eyes and wavy lines appear over his open palms. Peter opens his eyes and explains that he thought as hard as he could but no present appeared.

Wormal by Shanda McCloskey

A worm family takes polaroid pictures for Christmas. Take 1. The young pink worm is smiling with its mouth open showing their braces. They are covering the older worms in the back that are wearing reindeer antlers and a santa claus hat. Take 2. Just the tops of the heads of the worms are in the picture. A worm is taking the Santa hat off the one older worm’s head. Take 3. The older worm in pink lipstick and reindeer antlers points with its worm body at the pink worm with braces who looks surprised. Take 4. The three worms smile and the caption reads, “Merry Christmas from our family to yours.”

Little Green Monsters by Tony Alioto

Two one-eyed monsters are eating slices of pizza. The one-eyed monster in blue shorts and red shirt is about to bite into their slice when the cheese and toppings slip off the pizza. They get another slice and the same thing happens. The other one-eyed monster looks at the sad monster holding the two slices of pizza with no cheese or toppings and asks if they are going to eat that.

Small Word Rat asks Big Word Rat if they want to play cards. Big Word Rat says, “I appreciate any opportunity for conversation.” Small Word Rat holds up their hand, it’s four aces. Small Word Rat says, “I win! Let’s talk.” Big Word Rat peeks out from behind their hand and says, “Applesauce.”

Norma and Belly by Mika Song

A close-up of Belly, the round squirrel’s head as she is running.
