Hama & Pici by Alexis E. Fajardo

Hama the Pig’s head is shaped like a balloon. Pici the woodpecker squeezes Hama’s cheeks and Hama floats all around the room deflating. Hama lands in Pici’s bed on the wall above Hama’s bed and Pici jumps into Hama’s bed and goes to sleep.

Have you ever heard a balloon doing this?

Kitty & Cat by Jane Smith

Kitty and Cat are outside and excited for the sunny weather, it gets windy and they wear windbreakers, then it starts raining and they now have an umbrella, it starts snowing and Cat wears a beanie and says, “Geesh, Make up your mind Mother Nature.” Kitty says, “She did–it’s spring!”

Mean Mosquito and Bumble Beezy are in the swamp meeting Mean Mosquito’s family. Bumble Beezy says, “It’s nice to meet your family even if I am getting bitten.” Mean Mosquito says, “Our presence is enough, especially your presence, is delicious.” Bumble Beezy runs away saying, “That’s enough family time for me.”

A girl pulls away a cloth revealing her science project to her schoolmates. It is a giant red maching. She says its a weather machine and the science teacher looks amazed. She pulls a lever and says, “Rain!” and the machine opens revealing a disco ball that rises into the sky. A grey cloud covers the ball and it starts to rain. Everyone is amazed.

Big Word Rat asks what fruit Small Word Rat likes and it says, “Lime!” The Big Word Rat brings out a lime and Small Word Rat says, “I meant plum, pear or grapes.”
