Artist Spotlight:
Tom Eaton, creator of The Bug Zapper
What was your favorite comic, video, or cartoon character growing up?
As a kid my favorite was Calvin and Hobbes. When I was older, I enjoyed independent comic books, but recently have been drawn again to comic strip collections, discovering new favorites like Ernie Bushmiller's Nancy and Cul de Sac.
What is your favorite thing to draw?
I like to doodle whichever characters I'm working with at the moment, so lately, lots of Bug Zapper characters (especially Mean Mosquito.)
What art tools do you use to make your comics?
I sketch on paper with pen or pencil, then ink and color on an iPad with Clip Studio. As a kid, I drew lots of comics using ballpoint pen, and still have a soft spot for doodling with those.
